We are happy to announce that the BABY Lab is now inviting families back into our playroom! When Cornell’s campus closed in March of 2020, we found new ways to ask questions about the development of communication and social learning. Since 2019, we published exciting work on how infants elicit simplified speech from their caregivers just by babbling. We also published multiple articles on vocal interaction and socially-guided vocal learning in zebra finches.
This spring, we began in-person research again, welcoming families back into the lab with new COVID protocols in place to ensure the safety of researchers and participants. We have been amazed by the interest and participation of Ithaca families since reopening and we hope to continue to engage with the community moving forward. Please see our Parents and Research pages for more information about our new studies. If you have a baby between the ages of 1-12 months, please sign up for our studies!
